Nue Docs
The Nue Docs MCP lets AI clients search and read Nue's own documentation — the Nue Knowledge Center (product and how-to guides) and the Nue REST API reference (this site, api-docs.nue.io). Agents can ground their answers and step-by-step actions in Nue's current, published docs instead of relying on model memory.
It is one of the three built-in servers behind the Nue MCP GatewayNue MCP Gateway and is on by default — when you connect to the gateway, its tools are available immediately, no separate setup.
Prerequisites
- You connect through the Nue MCP GatewayNue MCP Gateway — one OAuth sign-in covers Nue Docs along with the other built-in servers.
- Nue Docs is read-only — it searches and retrieves published documentation. It never changes your tenant data.
What it covers
Nue Docs gives your AI assistant access to two sets of Nue documentation — the Nue Knowledge Center and the Nue API Reference. Both work the same way: the assistant first searches to find the right articles, then reads the full text of the one it needs — so its answers and instructions are grounded in Nue's current, published documentation instead of guesswork. Each set has four tools: a full-text search, a title search, a list, and a "read this document" fetch.
Nue Knowledge Center — product guides & how-tos
The Nue Knowledge Center is Nue's product documentation — the guides that admins, RevOps, and finance teams read to learn how Nue works and how to get things done: setting up billing, creating quotes and orders, configuring products and pricing, managing subscriptions and renewals, and more. It's written in plain language for people using the Nue app. Point your assistant here for "how do I…?" and "what does this feature do?" questions.

Nue API Reference — endpoints & schemas for developers
The Nue API Reference (this site, api-docs.nue.io) is Nue's developer documentation — the exact, technical details of Nue's REST APIs: each endpoint's URL and method, the fields you send in a request, what comes back in the response, and copy-paste code examples. It's written for developers building integrations on top of Nue. Point your assistant here for "what's the request body for…?", "which endpoint does…?", and other build-time questions.

Two sets of docs, kept separate. Product and how-to questions are answered from the Nue Knowledge Center (for example, "how do I set up a billing schedule?"); questions about building with Nue's APIs are answered from the Nue API Reference (for example, "what do I send to create a change order?"). Keeping the two separate means your assistant always pulls from the right one.
Tool names through the gateway. When connected via the Nue MCP Gateway, these tools are namespaced with a nuedocs_ prefix (for example, nuedocs_search_knowledge_center), so they never collide with tools from the other servers.
Example prompts
- "How do I create a quote with the Nue API?" → searches the API reference and reads the Create Quote page.
- "What are Nue price tags and discount tags?" → searches the Knowledge Center and summarizes the relevant guide.
- "Show me the request body for a change order." → finds and reads the Create Change Order API page.
Connect to Nue Docs
Nue Docs is built into the Nue MCP GatewayNue MCP Gateway and enabled by default. Connect once to the gateway and Nue Docs' tools are available alongside Nue Lifecycle Manager and Nue Price Builder — no separate endpoint or key.
